BabyLog ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services.
The short version: Your baby's data belongs to you. We don't sell it, share it, or use it for advertising. It stays on your devices and in your iCloud account.
Information We Collect
Data You Provide
When you use BabyLog, you may provide:
- Baby profiles: Name, date of birth, gender, and optional photos
- Activity logs: Feeding times, sleep sessions, diaper changes, growth measurements, and milestones
- Notes: Any additional notes you add to activities
- Account information: If you use iCloud sync, your Apple ID is used for authentication
Data Collected Automatically
We may collect basic analytics to improve the app:
- App crashes and errors (to fix bugs)
- Feature usage statistics (aggregated and anonymized)
- Device type and iOS version (for compatibility)
We do not collect or have access to your baby's personal data for analytics purposes.
How We Use Your Information
Your data is used solely to:
- Provide the core functionality of tracking your baby's activities
- Sync data across your devices via iCloud (if enabled)
- Generate insights and statistics for you
- Send notifications you've configured (feeding reminders, etc.)
- Improve app performance and fix bugs
Data Storage & Security
On-Device Storage
All your baby's data is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure SwiftData framework. The data is encrypted at rest when your device is locked.
iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. This data is:
- Encrypted in transit and at rest
- Stored in your private iCloud container
- Accessible only by you and people you explicitly share with
- Subject to Apple's privacy policies and security measures
We do not have access to your iCloud data.
Caregiver Sharing
If you share access with caregivers, they can view and add data for the babies you specify. You can revoke access at any time through the app settings.
Third-Party Services
BabyLog may use the following third-party services:
- Apple iCloud: For optional data sync across devices
- Apple StoreKit: For in-app purchases and subscriptions
- Apple Analytics: For aggregated, anonymized usage statistics (opt-out available in iOS Settings)
We do not use any third-party advertising networks or sell data to data brokers.
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as you use the app. You can:
- Delete individual records at any time
- Delete baby profiles and all associated data
- Export your data before deletion
- Delete all data by uninstalling the app
If you use iCloud sync, data remains in your iCloud account until you delete it or disable sync.
Children's Privacy
BabyLog is designed for parents and caregivers to track information about their children. The app is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access all data stored in the app
- Export your data (PDF or CSV)
- Delete any or all of your data
- Opt out of analytics (via iOS Settings)
- Disable iCloud sync at any time
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the app or via email if you've provided one.
